300 SYNCHRONIZED DRONES IN THE SKY!
Disney has partnered with Intel using their shooting star drones on a Christmas Holiday show using 300 drones to create an animated 3d light show this year. It looks pretty cool, but my mind immediately went to how this will be leveraged for video, and ultimately advertising.
It’s a 5 minute 3D light show, and the first of it’s kind in the United states.
It’s not hard to imagine the tech in the future that can extrapolate on this, where we could have drones assemble a motion display to show videos, animations, advertisements at sporting events, malls, parks, etc. A future mobile version of the venerable jumbotron, but smarter and focused.
Each individual drone would carry a section of screen pixels and using GPS/radar (tech that exists, which will only get more accurate) and assemble into an array where the screen could move around the stadium or venue to target advertising based on the section. More expensive seats would get more high-end targeted advertisements and sponsors (Jaguar, BMW) and the less expensive seats would get the more budget minded ads (Budweiser, Ford).
The circle of life. We will acquire the footage with drones, and display them with drones.
Soon it’ll all be AI drone cameramen, AI editors…etc…enjoy it while it lasts.
ps, if no one is working on this yet, please send me a couple bucks a month once you make it big.
