Love the Assassin’s Creed film? Well you probably didn’t pay attention to it because it was dogshit. Looking to hear more about video game franchises attempting to break into TV/Film? Well bust our your whips and wait for day to turn to night, because it’s possible that Frederator Studios is developing a Castlevania series.
Fred Seibert is the owner of Frederator Studios, who have produced such popular animated series such as The Fairly OddParents and Adventure Time. In Epsode 26 of the Nick Animation Podcast, he hinted at what could possibly be a Castlevania series in the works. He stated;
We have a project right now that we’re doing that needs to go unnamed, based on one of the most world-famous video games of the last 30 years, that we’ve had in our shop for 12 years without being able to get it started. But there were great characters and a great story, and eventually we got it going.
Frederator Studios owns the rights to Castlevania which makes it easy for any gumshoe detective to assume that is the franchise he is referring to. They described it as ‘super-violent’ which sounds appropriate for the Belmont legacy. If they could compose music that matched the legacy of the videogames, now we’re talking about something cool. I think doing something hyper-violent, while adding some of the humor from the ridiculousness of the series that fans would enjoy, could yield a successful show.
As a fan of the videogame franchise, I know that humor is part of the legacy of Castlevania so let’s hope they don’t eschew it for something serious.
