Panasonic VariCam Pure 4K Footage 120FPS Camera Test – Lifting the Images
The VariCam Pure is a collaboration project between Panasonic and Codex. It has a S35 sensor that shoots 4K and integrated uncompressed RAW up to 120fps to the internal Codex designed device. It takes standard Codex 2.0 Drives and has 14+ stops of Dynamic Range. And it only records RAW. No compressed codecs internally.
Panasonic uploaded some first test footage from the camera, shot at 4K 120fps in RAW format. They did not provide RAW files, and although a fool’s errand, I hoped to see how much info is in the h.264 by lifting the image somewhat. The 5000ASA shots look good when you remember its…. 5000ASA.
