Ghost in the Shell – Behind the Scenes “Creating the Shell” With Weta Workshop
Despite your feelings about the faithfulness of this live action Ghost in the Shell, you know the visuals will be top notch. The film directed by Rupert Sanders has many VFX shops on it including MPC, Atomic Fiction, Framestore, Method Studios, Raynault VFX, and Territory Studio. Weta Workshop is behind the design of the shell itself.
These featurettes are focusing on the shelling and construction of the synthetic body. Weta Workshop’s ridiculously talented crew put together the model. After testing many different printing mediums, the 3d printed parts out of resin, steel, and nylon were assembled to create the incredible practical skeleton consisting of 300-400 pieces over hundreds of printing hours.
