LYNX – 3 Axis Camera Motion Control on a Budget for Indie Filmmakers
Came across this little guy on Kickstarter..
A company called Cinetics has a funding project going on right now for their LYNX, a 3-axis motion control slider. Previously completed three other Kickstarters so you can have some confidence that these guys know a bit about successfully launching.
The iOS/Android(thank you) app that it ships with will allow you to set a maximum of 10 keyframes and the motors are capable of driving 2 inches per second at maximum speed. Clearly a rig designed for DSLR shooters however – the supported weight of you camera is capped at 5lbs. With some of my longer zooms I’m easily over 5lbs with my Canon, so you’re probably going to have to stick with primes if using this puppy. Trailer and specs:
- Length: 24 inches
- Weight: 12.5 lbs
- Max Capacity: 5 lbs
- Max Linear Speed: 2 inches per second
- Max Rotation Speed: 25 degrees per second
- Battery: 3 hours continuous, 24 hours power save
- Included: Carrying Case, Power Adapter
- Optional: Camera Cable, Slider Extension*
LYNX is available as three kits: Manually Operated Base Slider for $499, Motorized Slider for $999 and Three Axis Slider for $1499. See more on their Kickstarter.
