I’m always setting up custom expression controllers in After Effects in a traditional way – the sloppy get it done kind of way.
Newly released Pseudo Effect Maker allows artists to create custom effect controllers to drive your expressions in a friendly GUI interface. From the demo video it looks rather nice and intuitive. Definitely something useful to consider when creating projects that are destined to land in the hands of many artists and you want organization so the artists can concentrate on their work rather than figuring out how you organized your controllers.
One thing to remember is that these controllers being built are still linked via expressions to normal effects & properties. You’re not replacing standard effects, just tidying up your custom controllers to drive them. See how it works with the getting started tutorial:
