Tutorial – Autodesk Maya 2017 Time Editor Animation Tool
This was new to Maya 2017 (and Maya LT), and Autodesk has put up some training videos on the topic. Sure, 2018 is right around the corner but it’s hard to learn every feature of every package right away. I’m learning to use it today, why not do the same? Knawwwledge.
The Time editor is a new feature that allows for the blending and reusing of animation from multiple sources in a clip based format the same as a Non-linear editing software would offer.
It works with any keyable attribute within Maya 2017. Once you create a motion clip you can edit speed, start & stop, length, curves and keys in non-destructive ways within that motion clip. An example of the power in this system is the ability to copy motion data and apply it to other characters, tweaking it further.
