This is an awesome masterclass from Manuel and Moritz of Entagma. Presented at FMX 2017, they have a great presentation style and sense of humor that will keep you entertained while watching.
Their visual style is achieved by pairing intricate structures with simple lighting and camera angles. Challenge is how to take these complicated organic structures and animate in a standard 3D package. Their answer was found in Houdini.
You’ll learn about their approach to organic procedural design to motion graphics and how they utilize Houdini to avoid writing hundreds of lines of code in standard 3D programs. Or as they describe it a “3D Operating Environment” One of the most interesting (and technical) parts of this presentation is their walkthrough the creation of a organically growing ice stalactite through procedural animation.
