Scripts – AE Global Renamer 2.0 for Adobe After Effects Review
The tag is “Make Revisions Fun Again” and I don’t know about all that but the script is pretty handy. AE Global Renamer will give you a toolkit to rename a plethora of variables in your After Effects project.
Modifiable items include project panel names, layer names, effect names, text within text layers, expressions, property names, and render queue footage paths.
Above is the UI panel. It’s small, simple to use, and self explanatory, with most of the options having a brief description on hover over.
The only potential downside I have discovered upon initial use is that if you have a single text layer with multiple text sizes within that layer, the renamer will not carry over the formatting. It seems to make all text uniform with the first line. Correct me if I’m missing an option somewhere. See example below as I turn TEST to TURD:
Now for the value proposition. As of today on sale for $24.99 with a retail of $29.99 I think it is too expensive to be one of those must have scripts. The functionality is there but I would wait until you come across a situation that warrants a bulk rename to make that really payoff. Check it out on aescripts.com
