Review – Offset & Distribute Your After Effects Layers With Lazy – Layer Easer Script
This Adobe After Effects script called Lazy from Perry Design is pretty cool in concept. You take your layers or keyframes, and using a bezier curve, distribute them along the curve automatically. This can add interesting variation to your animations and provides a quick way to do so.
I took it for a trial spin just to show what you can do with a simple bezier distribution. Excuse the actual shit animation, I am doing this to demonstrate the variation you can create just by adjusting the curve via Lazy. First the animation without offsetting layer positions:
Now that same exact animation but distributing the layers over a bezier curve in varying ways in basically 2 clicks of the mouse:
There really isn’t much more to it than that! Now how much do you want to pay for this is the question. Retail for $29.99 and I’m on the fence about adding it to my kit. Typically I do not have such a large group of layers that I want to shift timing where doing it manually is costing a large amount of time. But if I encounter a special case where I’m staring down 100 layers that I want to offset, I’ll be sure to pick it up. I think I’m going to wait until it’s needed to grab this one.
