Tutorial – Creating and Applying Custom Noise Textures to Layers In After Effects
If there is one thing all my associates know about me – it’s that I irrationally love film grain and noise. I have issues creating any comps that don’t contain noise in some form. It’s that extra tactile texture that I can’t help but love.
EJ Hassenfratz from eyedesyn.com shows how to use layer styles bevel and emboss to create noise in the highlights and shadows. Using a combination of his custom tools Wiggle It and Boil It, he creates an animated noise texture that takes a bland flat character and gives it a realistic dimensional texture using these techniques.
